New Patient Story

  • Author: Kelly Lore
I had a TLKR with Dr. Cook on Monday, February 19th. Although I understood the skillfulness of Dr. Cook's competent hands, I had no idea of how the Ohio Valley staff emulated this very same mantra. From my joint class, to care coordination, to check in on day of surgery and discharge the day after, every person I came in contact with was an absolute "10" on a 1-10 scale. They were all professional, skill-full and most importantly, kind. Working in the healthcare industry myself for the past 20 years, I understand how difficult it can be to find all of these qualities in one person, let alone EVERY MEMBER of the team a patient interacts with. As a nurse, I admired how well everyone worked together. As a patient, I appreciated the concern shown for me and the consistent information about my plan of care that I received. I truly felt that we were partners in care rather than me just simply being a patient. Although I tried to make a note of everyone's name I came in contact with, I'm sure I missed a few. I've done my best to include their names as follows: - OR Team, including the tech, nurses and Josh, CRNA (that spinal block was dope!) - Post-op recovery floor including Faith, RN; Debra, PCT; Janet, RN; Natalia, PCT; Amy, RN; Liz, manager (this she came on the floor to support her team on a very busy day and even called doctors to expedite discharges) - Hospitalist team including Stefani, PA & Josh, PA I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ohio Valley to anyone I come into contact with. What a great alternative to a traditional hospital setting. In today's healthcare environment, it is so refreshing to see an organization that treats its employees and patients with respect. I hope that your organization can maintain this momentum going forward!
