The Gold Standard for Orthopedic Care in the Area

Ohio Valley Surgical Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification in collaboration with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR). This advanced certification was developed in response to the growing number of patients undergoing a total hip or total knee replacement and reflects an increased national focus on clinical evidence-based patient care.

The Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Knee Replacement provides evidence-based proof of safe, high quality patient care by meeting rigorous performance standards focusing on pre-surgical orthopedic consultation, operative, hospitalization, rehabilitation, and follow-up visit with the orthopedic surgeon. The standards for advanced certification were developed by health care experts and patients, and evaluated through unannounced, onsite reviews and interviews of the Ohio Valley team. This advanced certification recognizes health care organizations committed to continuous improvement in patient safety, quality of care and strengthening the process for orthopedic patients.
